FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

These are some of the most common questions we usually receive from our users with ready made answers.

How can I get a tick that I'm a real person? Authentication.

This tick confirms that you are authenticated. Authentication is the process whereby NomadMania ascertains that a member with a profile is real i.e. he exists and the data that he has registered with are accurate.

There are two ways of authentication:

1. An already authenticated member of NomadMania confirms that he knows another traveller; this is done by visiting a traveller’s profile and clicking the relevant button.

2. Authentication by NomadMania (2-step process).

Authentication by NomadMania

Members of NomadMania who wish to be authenticated (hereby: applicant) can contact NomadMania.

The process is 2-step, as follows:

1. A live video chat is organized by a member of the NomadMania Team and the applicant. During the short chat (5 minutes or so), the applicant needs to show a clear photo ID in the camera with his/her name and photo matching what the team member can see. It is at the discretion of the team member to request further ID if needed i.e. the photo is not clear etc. The chat should not be too long, however the NomadMania Team member should always make the applicant feel at ease as well as provoke questions about NomadMania etc. to stimulate interest.

2. A person who has met the applicant in real life and knows him/her for more than a year personally must then send an email to NomadMania (this person cannot be a family member of the applicant, but does not need to be a NomadMania member). The person must certify in writing that they have known the applicant in real life for more than a year. This person should also provide at least one link to a social media account of theirs, which the NomadMania team member should check to ascertain its authenticity etc.

3. If the NomadMania Team member is satisfied, then a request to the Executive Secretary is made that the applicant receives his authentication badge; an congratulatory email to the applicant should be sent; do remember that all emails are opportunities to further our cause, so aspects of our operation such as webinars, tours etc. could be highlighted in them.

If you wish to be authenticated by NomadMania, please, CONTACT US with a relevant request.

How do I earn badges on my profile?

The first ‘tick’ is the Authentication badge, meaning that you are a real person. If this is beside a profile, it implies this traveller has been authenticated. Read the tab above for more information.

UN/NM are verifications of travel records which stand for confirmed visits of UN Countries and NomadMania Regions. if these are beside a profile, it implies this traveller has been verified for these . See Verification.

Other badges indicate numerous travel achievements. See triumphs of other nomads. By using the website and filling in more rubrics such as Series, Milestoneds etc. and updating the profile regularly, these are obtained automatically.

What is a difference: Authentication vs Verification?

In our effort to establish ourselves as the most credible and reliable travel site online, we check our users in regard to the validity of provided travel information on their accounts.

Authentication is the process whereby NomadMania ascertains that a member with a profile is real i.e. he exists and the data that he has registered with – name etc. – are accurate.

Verification is our way of ensuring that travellers’ claims of their regions and countries visited are true.

Both have to be confirmed by our team. Read Authentication and Verification for more details.

What is a difference: verification for UN Countries vs NM Regions?

We ask for the UN countries verification from anyone who claims 193 countries or is close to it, and from anyone who is among the top 100 travellers on the NM website.

We usually start to ask for a Regional Verification, if a traveller has more than 600 NomadMania regions, or on his/her own initiative if they have slightly less.

Both have their own procedures. See Verification.

Why can’t I access the fixer section?
