Meet the volunteers shaping NomadMania’s Series:
Some months ago, we reached out to our community with an open call, an invitation to join us in making NomadMania’s Series more dynamic, diverse and efficient. The response was fantastic!
We’re delighted to introduce the volunteers who’ve stepped up to form our newly created Series Team. Over the past months we asked the community for help to better handle the growing number of Series suggestions — and the response was fantastic. Seven enthusiastic members have accepted the task of developing Series items and reviewing your suggestions. You can find each of them listed on our People page.
Meet the team
Artur Padalianchyk (Team Leader) —Tech leader by trade, traveller and foodie by heart, always chasing new places and flavors.
Thijs Copraij —Professional pilot, amateur diver, hiker, historian and castle enthusiast. Always interested in seeing new places.
Olivier Demars —A Frenchman who lived in a dozen countries slowly but surely making its way to 193.
Douglas Gerhardt — Gallivanting serial traveller, scuba diver, and avgeek exploring cultures, stories, and hidden gems. One region at a time.
Niels Honkoop — Cheese prince from the Netherlands. once went to law school. Into old maps and street food markets.
Stephen Nemeth — Travelling to all the places I never learned about as a kid. Museum maniac and lover of obscure historical sites.
Jack Shepherd — Jack is a lecturer in Tourism Studies at Mid Sweden University, with a particular interest in tourism’s peacebuilding potential. When not working, he is out eating, drinking beer, skiing, hiking and history nerding around the world.
What the Series Team does
The Series Team has two core responsibilities: to develop new Series items guided by their own interests and expertise, and to review the Series suggestions you submit, deciding whether they meet NomadMania’s criteria. The Series suggestion feature built into the site is the official channel for proposing new items; the committee evaluates suggestions and helps keep the Series curated and meaningful.
Please remember that these volunteers are giving their time because they care about NomadMania’s Series — treat them with respect and politeness. Any inappropriate behaviour toward team members will not be accepted.
Our vision for Series
Our aim is to grow the Series into a trusted reference for curious travellers: not to be encyclopaedic, but to highlight the most exciting and rewarding experiences across each category. That means:
- strengthening coverage where it’s thin (especially off-the-grid regions and less-visited countries),
being selective in oversubscribed categories, and
- prioritising items that help travellers find something memorable even in obscure places.
Recent Series development and updates emphasise precisely this — more attention to under-represented regions and careful curation of high-volume categories.
How you can help
Have a Series suggestion? Use the site’s Suggest Series Item feature to submit your idea , your contribution is the lifeblood of these lists. The team particularly welcomes suggestions for rural locations and less-visited countries; urban places with dense Series coverage are less likely to be accepted, so please send your best, lesser-known tips.
If you’d like to join the Series Team, please contact Artur Padalianchyk — ideally via the NomadMania chat — and say a little about your interests and the categories you’d like to support.
A huge thank you to Artur, Thijs, Olivier, Douglas, Niels, Stephen and Jack for volunteering their time and expertise. We’re excited to see how the Series grow and improve with this new, dedicated committee at the helm.
