Nigeria is one of the largest and most diverse countries in Africa, yet relatively few travellers explore beyond Lagos and Abuja. This 17-day expedition has been designed to cross the country from south to north, covering all 11 NomadMania regions of Nigeria as well as two particularly unusual NomadMania DARE areas.
The journey begins with four full days based in Lagos, including the city itself, historic Badagry and a day trip to Abeokuta. From there we fly east to Enugu and travel to the Cameroon-border region around Ikom before continuing by air to Abuja.
The second half heads overland through Nigeria’s Middle Belt and into the north, with stops in Jos, Bauchi, the remote northeastern town of Gashua, the Yusufari Sand Dunes, Kano and Daura.
The tour is divided into two modules, allowing travellers to join either the southern or northern portion independently, while the complete expedition checks all 11 NomadMania regions in a single journey.

Important Notes
⇒ This is an expedition-style trip and participants should be prepared for a more demanding travel experience than on a conventional tour. Road conditions can vary considerably, driving days may be long, and vehicles and general infrastructure may not always be to the standard travellers are accustomed to elsewhere.
⇒ Module 2 is particularly suited to experienced travellers. Parts of the route pass through areas of northern Nigeria that were previously affected by Boko Haram and other security issues. We operate with trusted local partners, adapt the programme when necessary and take security considerations seriously, but participants should understand the nature of the regions being visited.
⇒ Armed security will accompany the group throughout the expedition: one armed security escort during Module 1 and two during Module 2.
⇒ Please also note that Module 2 is single occupancy only, except for couples or two travellers who specifically choose to share the same bed.
⇒ Module Changeover: The two modules overlap in Abuja/Zuma Rock. Module 2 participants join the group in Abuja on March 22, while Module 1 participants remain with the group through the visit to Zuma Rock on the morning of March 23. After Zuma Rock, Module 1-only participants transfer to the airport and Module 2 continues toward Jos. Exact joining and transfer details will be provided to participants before the tour.
