Ehnicities, Minorities and Local Peoples
Moldova, being one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Europe, is a fantastic place to discuss the topic of ethnicities, minorities, and local peoples. The aim here is to travel the globe, so to speak, through presentations on populations that are often overlooked yet especially fascinating from a traveler’s perspective.
This edition will heavily rely on the participants, who are encouraged to prepare presentations in advance on a subject linked to the theme that interests them. Whether you are an expert in minority languages, fascinated by the tribal divisions of African countries, moved by the plight of marginalized peoples across the globe, or wishing to highlight near-extinct cultures, this will be a diverse forum where you can share your interests and knowledge with the NomadMania community.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 (July 18) – Transfer to Codru Complex – Relax – Orhei town evening tour
Your journey officially kicks off with an organized group transfer from Chișinău to the Codru Complex, situated about 40 minutes drive north.
Following check-in, enjoy free time to unwind and settle in. Take advantage of the resort’s excellent amenities, which include a refreshing pool, spa facilities, and peaceful forest walking trails to shake off any travel fatigue.
As evening falls, we will take a short excursion to Orhei, a charming town that offers an authentic, classic Moldovan atmosphere to gently introduce you to local culture and architecture.
Day 2 (June 19) – Plenary 1 – Old Orhei – Cricova Winery – Gala Evening
The day begins with an engaging open plenary session focusing on Ethnicities, Minorities, and Local Peoples, setting a thoughtful tone for our exploration of the region’s diverse heritage.
Then we head out to Old Orhei, a postcard-perfect village boasting some of the most iconic and breathtaking scenery in Moldova. Here, we will explore the remarkable, world-famous rock-hewn monastery carved into the limestone cliffs.
Next, we visit the renowned Cricova Winery. Descend into its legendary subterranean limestone city for a guided tour of its massive underground tunnels, followed by an exclusive wine-tasting session.
We will return to the hotel to refresh and dress for the evening, culminating in our official Gala Ceremony to celebrate a memorable journey together.
Day 3 (July 20) – Discovering Gagauzia & Plenary Session 2
Day 4 (July 21) – Plenary 3 – Soroka Fortess – Gypsy Hill – Final Gala
The day kicks off with our third and final plenary session, bringing together our core discussions and insights.
Then we travel north to Soroka, a picturesque town situated on the banks of the Dniester River. Here, we will explore its magnificent, historic fortress, which famously overlooks the river toward Ukraine.
Soroka is widely renowned for its vibrant Roma community, concentrated in the distinctive neighborhood known as Gypsy Hill. We will visit the area to learn more about their unique culture, architecture, and local heritage.
We return to the hotel in the evening to wind down and celebrate the conclusion of our journey with our second and final Gala Ceremony.
Day 5 (July 22) – Relaxation & Transfer to Chișinău
Our final morning is designed for pure relaxation. Participants are welcome to sleep in and enjoy the hotel’s amenities, including the pool and spa facilities, before check-out. Following check-out, all participants will be transferred to Chișinău, where the main conference program officially commences.
For those continuing their adventures, some participants will remain in the city to embark on upcoming post-trip excursions to Transnistria and Ukraine in the following days.
