Roadmap for Regional Review

09 February, 2026 | Blog, Regions Review

As part of the NomadMania regions review project we have developed Criteria for New Regions, the Optimal Score system for regions per country and the Region Review Guide to define what can and should be done. We have also consulted the community through two polls and continue to encourage you to contact us — especially in cases where you believe regional border corrections are needed.

We hereby present our roadmap, structured in two ways:

  1. A list of countries where regions are due to be added or corrected
  2. A batch-based release plan to help you follow what comes next

1) List of Affected Countries

Please see the public spreadsheet (SEE HERE).

This is a single public reference list which we will consistently use throughout the project. You will gradually see updates as development progresses.

Cell color code:

  • White – No changes needed
  • Green – One additional region needed
  • Yellow – Several additional regions needed
  • Purple – Community feedback received
  • Orange – Changes are set and decided

In total, 53 countries are due to receive new regions. In the absolute majority of cases, only one region will be added per country. The only two exceptions are Australia and China which are significantly undersplit.

Please note that we do not allow deleting regions. This rule is protected by a grandfather principle — we do not penalise countries based on past decisions — and it exists out of respect for our older members who went the extra mile to visit multiple difficult regions in countries that are currently considered oversplit.
.
The only possible change to the number of regions per country is a slight increase, and only when clearly justified by the Optimal Score. Otherwise, we maintain the existing number of regions, allowing only adjustments of internal borders to ensure better geographic, cultural, and practical representation.

Eventually, every country in the spreadsheet will turn orange — the core color of NomadMania.

2) Implementation Batches & Timeline

We will implement changes over the coming four months, with the goal of completing the entire process by the end of April. Flexibility will be maintained to accommodate new ideas and community input.

We actively encourage the NomadMania community to participate by submitting comments and suggestions on border modifications. Please refer to the Region Review Guide for methodology and rules.

Community Involvement

We will actively encourage Envoys and local NomadMania members to initiate discussions in countries where new regions are clearly due or there is a way to improve the internal division.

Please refer to this guide. Thank you 🙂
